The Rainbow was formed by ex-"Deep Purple" lead guitarist and rock music legend Ritchie Blackmore. It was year 1975,when Ritchie put a new band together. Initially,the first members of the Rainbow were: Ritchie Blackmore,Ronnie James Dio,Cozy Powell,Bob Daisley,and David Stone. In the beginning, the band was playing hard rock music with classical elements. After Ronnie James Dio departure from the band,he was replaced by Graham Bonnet. Rainbow started to play,more melody oriented hard rock music. After Graham Bonnet time with Rainbow ended,another very talented vocalists came along in Joe Lynn Turner.

The Rainbow became very popular band around the world,they were just like "Deep Purple" greatest era.The Rainbow style of music and variety of improvization and well connected to theirs songs they played, Rainbow were showing professional musical talent on stage. In 1984, The Rainbow seized to exist on world stage,and after 8 years not playing together "Deep Purple" came back. But, in March 14th/1984 "Deep Purple" said goodbye to their fans with concert in Japan. Rainbow didn't play for 9 years. Only remix "Finyl Vinyl" in 1986 and live album, "Live in Germany"[1980].In the spring of 1993,Ritchie Blackmore left "Deep Purple" on tour and revival of " Rainbow" has began. In 1995 a new album was born "Strangers in us all". In 1996 the band added 20 years old video-clip from concert "Live in Europe". With "Ritchie Blackmore", Ronnie James Dio,Tony Carey,Jimmy Bain,Cozy Powell.

In the end of 1996-Ritchie Blackmore and his wife Candice Night,formed medieval music group called "Blackmore Nights". This group is playing gothic style of music with a flute,accustic guitar and some of the medieval instruments.
